| The GW Field Grade ferrules are machined from solid nickel silver bar stock.
The females have a simple welt, and the males have a single, decorative groove machined in the center of the shoulder. Our Field Grade ferrules have won popular approval because they combine exceptional affordability with proven GW- quality machining. Due to the high volume of production and innovative machining techniques, we can offer these ferrules at prices significantly less than tube stock ferrules.
We spent months working on the design and production of these ferrules, and the effort shows in the final product. The waterseal in each ferrule is flat on both sides. All the interior bores of the ferrules end against a flat surface; there is no unwanted air pocket left as a by- product of using a conical drill bit to bore the ferrules from the bar stock. We insisted on flat bottoms; and, after much experimentation, we got what we asked for. The cross-section of our bar-stock ferrules mimics that of the finest quality tube-stock ferrules, but with several additional benefits. Because there are no solder joints, there is essentially no risk of blowing out a waterseal when mounting the ferrules. Also, since there are no solder joints, the ferrules blue evenly. In machining these ferrules, we have used slow feed rates, which makes for an exceptionally fine finish, free of tool marks. Males are 0.001� oversized. GW ferrule plugs are also 0.001� oversized, making them an easy fit when using our ferrules.
