The SFTA Last Chance Store, founded as part of the Santa Fe Trail Association in 1987 and operated entirely by volunteers, offers books, maps, posters, pins, music, and other items related to the Trail. Back issues of the Santa Fe Trail Association quarterly, Wagon Tracks, are available through the Last Chance Store. The name of the store comes from the famous Last Chance Store located on the Trail in Council Grove, Kansas. There is no physical "store." It is a mail-order business only, stocked and supplied for the benefit of the Santa Fe Trail Association by managers Leo and Bonita Oliva, Woodston, Kansas.

Members of the Santa Fe Trail Association receive awards certificates for accumulated online or mail-order purchases totaling $100 or more during any calendar year. These certificates, valued at 10% of accumulated purchases, may be used for additional purchases from the Last Chance Store. These awards are not available for items purchased at a discount for resale through a store outlet.

The funds generated from this "store" help fund SFTA publications and other projects.

Western Books, a retail and publishing business, was started by Leo Oliva in 1972 and donated to the Santa Fe Trail Association to establish the Last Chance Store in 1987. The non-Trail items offered by Western Books may be viewed under that heading to the left.

Online orders are secure and are usually filled within two days, except when the managers are out on the Trail (occasionally they are out for a week or two at a time). The list of products for sale keeps increasing, so please check back periodically to see what is new.
