Basically it is your www.yourdomain.com thingy. Can be .biz, .net, .org, .info, .us, .edu, .gov or anything else they have come up with lately...but if you own a commercial website you will usually want one with the .com ending.

It is important to pick the right domain name - You might think that the most important thing is to pick a domain name that matches your company name, but that might actually be the worst thing you could do. Unless you are FORD, or AMAZON.com or some other company that enjoys Brand or Name recognition to the point that people will know to type in your company name and add a .com or .biz to the end...you might be passing up a great opportunity to buy a domain name that can bring you traffic from the search engines just because of the keywords that your URL is full of.

Now here is the magical logic behind picking a key word rich domain name: If you pick a domain name that has the kind of words in it that people would most use to find you on the search engines, you will get placed in the search engines under those terms, because that is your domain name / URL.
